Peace Shall Reign
August 9, 2011
Untroubled by the voices of the world,
Unveiled as yet the God who hides within,
Unknown and yet the comrade of our dreams,
Our prayers, our dreams and hopes as yet unfilled
We would meet him in the sanctum and the crowd
The friend whose thousand failures are our own,
Whose struggles in this body also his,
Where can we go without him by our side
What can we do or possibly achieve
Without his sanction to the growing soul?
Yes, all is he but little we perceive,
Our eyes are fixed upon the darker side,
Of life that suffers seeking transient joys
Content to live awhile then disappear
Into religion's heaven or its hell
Or failing that into a void of space.
Now two have come and cleared the path of thorns
To help the pilgrim tread the golden way.
Shall we then forego our penury of soul
And leave behind our vain and brief desires,
Our human aspiration to succeed,
Our failures and successes far behind
To follow where he leads and cling to truth,
Arrive at last upon a new made earth,
Absent sorrow, violence and hate
Where peace in all its plenitude shall reign.
